Education and Experience
Livia was called to the bar in Ontario in 2013; she moved to York Region in 2018 after articling in downtown Toronto and practicing in the GTA. Livia developed a passion for family law and quickly developed a reputation with all of her clients and the community for her empathetic and passionate nature.
Goals
Livia decided to specialize primarily in family law and joined Galbraith Family Law in 2017 to build her practice. Livia advocates for her clients passionately and forcefully, but prefers a collaborative approach wherever possible. She does not believe in argument for the sake of argument, but only as a means to resolving conflict within families.
Livia attended Queen’s Law School in Kingston, Ontario. She was awarded the Law Foundation of Ontario’s “Community Commitment Award” for extensive commitment to community service, as she was involved in many organizations where she assumed leadership roles. Livia spearheaded the Ontario Justice Education Network’s involvement in the Kingston high school community, forging an alliance with Probono Students’ Canada. Livia was also President of the Law & Public Policy Club at law school. Livia previously attended the University of Toronto (U of T) where she specialized in political science and was also involved in many community and student organizations, including student government.
Livia was a contributing author to the textbook on family law entitled “Vulnerable Persons: Protection and Remedies in Canada” and focused on the section on spousal violence. Livia has assisted both mothers and fathers with high conflict situations of spousal violence, intimidation and alienation against the children and finds it very rewarding when she reaches resolution.
Livia’s interest in negotiations led her to compete in the International Mediation Advocacy Competition moot while in law school, where she refined her skills in negotiations and mediation. Livia completed her training in Collaborative Family Law in Toronto.
