Alex is a graduate of Dalhousie Law School and was called to the bar in Nova Scotia (1986), and Ontario (1991). As an Ontario native, Alex returned to Ontario in 1987 when he established the Legal Department at Honda Canada Inc. as in-house counsel. After five years in that corporate legal role interest in serving individuals, helping them through transitions in their lives involving the law led to Alex practising as a Toronto-based criminal trial lawyer. After years of courtroom experience, Alex became interested in family law matters when his sister went through a separation and divorce, using the negotiation-based, collaborative process. As a result and since joining the Galbraith Law Firm in 2015 and becoming a collaboratively certified practitioner himself, Alex continues to promote the benefits to clients of the collaborative process, where that is appropriate, in addition to litigation-based resolution where required.
