Headshot of Harrison Notkin

Education and Experience

Harrison is proud to be a member of Galbraith Family Law and is excited to serve its community for many years to come.

Harrison graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland and completed his Canadian accreditation at the University of Toronto. While studying for his equivalencies in Toronto, Harrison began working as a student of law at a criminal law practice. Evolving within this field, Harrison chose to pursue his articles of clerkship. Two days into his articles, Harrison had to appear alone in front of a judge, starting his career off with a bang. The ethics required an available platform to seek justice, solidified Harrison’s passion for the law and his ability to strike its delicate balance for clients.

Upon completion of his articles, Harrison was called to the Ontario Bar in 2015. Immediately following, he began practicing Criminal Law, yet was offered the opportunity to learn Family Law, Real Estate, and Wills and Estates. He is grateful to have been exposed to these areas of law early on in his career, shortly thereafter choosing to pursue Family Law exclusively.

While Harrison enjoys the many intricacies of Family Law, he is most gratified by reaching settlements that positively impact any children involved. His preference is for files to reach settlements out of court; however, Harrison has extensive experience in court and is known for his courtroom excellence. He understands that each client comes with a unique case and needs, requiring variable approaches.

Compassion is a defining attribute of Harrison’s litigation. As well, he is fair, strategic, and efficient in all client engagements.

Harrison was a proud member of the Chartered Institute of Journalists while studying in Scotland, and looks forward to continuing his passion for law-related journalism at Galbraith Family Law.

Personal Life

In his spare time, Harrison enjoys racket sports, golf, travel, photography, and cooking for his friends and family. He enjoys Canadian winters, particularly by the ski hill or visiting family in Montreal.

Citations

Harrison earned his first citation in 2016: R. v. Thomas, 2016 ONSC 640.
