Getting Back my 25A Divorce Order

How long does it take to get my 25A divorce order back from the date a judge signs it? I’d like to frame it and have a party!

— Ryan R.

Answer

It all depends on where you are filing your documents. In the County of Simcoe, after you file your affidavit for divorce, it takes about 1 to 2 months to get the Divorce Order. From the start of an uncontested divorce to its conclusion, it takes about 3 to 5 months in this jurisdiction. In other places in Ontario, it may be slower. It used to be 8 to 10 months. We had some clients with upcoming weddings who were panicked when we told them how long it takes to get their uncontested divorce finalized.Enjoy your party Ryan! It's all about "new beginnings".
