A Better Way to Divorce
Collaborative Team Practice (CTP) is a modern, respectful way to resolve separation and divorce without going to court. Instead of battling it out, you and your spouse work with a team of professionals to find solutions that support your whole family.
It’s private, cost-effective, efficient, and it works.
How It Works
CTP is built around cooperation, not conflict. You and your spouse each have a lawyer, but instead of preparing for a fight, your lawyers help you work together.
Before negotiations begin, everyone signs a Participation Agreement. This confirms your shared commitment to:
If either party withholds information or chooses to leave the process, the entire collaborative team, including both lawyers, must step aside. This ensures everyone stays invested in finding fair, lasting solutions.
Who’s on Your Team?
1
Lawyers
Each of you has a specially trained collaborative lawyer to guide the legal process, explain your rights, and draft your final separation agreement.
2
Family Coaches
You’ll each work with a neutral Family Coach to help manage emotions, improve communication, and develop parenting plans. This keeps the personal side of separation from derailing the process.
3
Financial Specialist
Instead of hiring two separate accountants or lawyers, you’ll share one neutral expert. The Financial Specialist helps you understand your financial picture and explore fair settlement options.
Isn’t This More Expensive?
It might sound that way, but in reality, CTP often costs less than traditional legal battles.
That’s because:
By resolving emotional and financial issues more efficiently, you avoid the drawn-out stress and legal fees of going to court.
What If You Hit a Wall?
If you reach a sticking point, your team can bring in an arbitrator to decide on that specific issue and then return to collaborative negotiations. The process keeps moving without falling apart.
