According to a recent poll by Devry Smith Frank LLP legal firm, 74 percent of respondents believed they can divorce amicably.
‘We expect to see our calendars fill up every January with appointments to explore divorce proceedings, but we’d never expect such optimism from Canadians about keeping divorce amicable,” said Julie Tyas, a Devry Smith Frank LLP lawyer in a statement.
We won’t offer any numbers, but we will say that divorce and separation can be an emotionally charged process that polarizes the two sides.
However, even when things seem deadlocked and hopeless, we have seen a lot of clients find a way to work to an agreeable solution. The end results are often surprising, considering how far apart things can seem.
Devry Smith Frank’s data also shows that 30 percent of respondents said finances were their biggest priority.
