Position details

As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a Legal Administrator to join our Barrie office.
This role is ideal for a highly organized, adaptable, and compassionate professional who enjoys a
varied, client-facing position, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and wants to play a meaningful
part in supporting both our clients and our team. This is a multi-faceted role that combines legal
administration, reception, office support, and client care responsibilities.

In this role, you will:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for clients and visitors, representing GFL with
    professionalism, warmth, and empathy.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls and direct inquiries appropriately.
  • Arrange couriers, manage incoming and outgoing mail, and coordinate office-related
    logistics.
  • Order and maintain office supplies and assist with the day-to-day operation of the office.
  • Provide administrative and legal support to lawyers and law clerks, including file
    management, scheduling, and document preparation.
  • Assist with appointment coordination and other client service functions.
  • Act as a backup resource to our WeCare Program, helping ensure clients feel supported
and connected to appropriate resources throughout their family law matter.
  • Contribute to firm-wide initiatives and projects as needed.
  • You will work closely with our legal team, administrative staff, and WeCare team to ensure
efficient file flow, seamless office operations, and exceptional client service.

Our WeCare Program:

At Galbraith Family Law, we understand that family law clients often need more than legal advice.
Through our WeCare Program, we provide a unique, non-billable support service designed to help
clients navigate the personal challenges that often accompany family law matters.

Our WeCare team serves as a compassionate resource for clients by listening, helping identify
challenges, connecting them with appropriate community and professional supports, and ensuring
they have the tools and resources needed to move forward with confidence.

As a member of our team, you may be called upon to provide backup support to the WeCare
department. Success in this aspect of the role requires a high degree of empathy, emotional
intelligence, active listening skills, and a genuine desire to help others through difficult periods in
their lives.

This program is one of the many ways GFL delivers on its commitment to being not only exceptional
legal advocates but also trusted partners for our clients throughout their family law journey.

What we’re looking for

  • Legal education (Law Clerk or Legal Administration diploma/certificate preferred)
  • Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in a law firm or legal environment; direct family law experience is strongly preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of Ontario legal procedures, terminology, and documentation
  • Ability to manage competing priorities independently in a deadline-driven environment
  • Comfort using modern legal technology and practice management tools (Clio experience is a strong asset)
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and client service skills.
  • Exceptional active listening and communication abilities.
  • A compassionate and empathetic approach when supporting individuals experiencing
significant life transitions and emotional stress.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond thoughtfully to client concerns.
  • The ability to adapt to a variety of responsibilities and support multiple departments as
    needed.
  • Professional, client-focused, collaborative, and team-oriented approach.

What we offer

  • Competitive compensation commensurate with experience, including bonus incentives
  • Comprehensive medical and dental benefits.
  • Firm-wide yearly paid holiday shutdown.• A full-time, in-office position at our historic downtown Barrie location.
  • Reasonable workload expectations that support work-life balance with a Monday to Friday
work week and hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.
  • Ongoing training, mentorship, and opportunities for professional growth.
  • Exposure to a variety of responsibilities and opportunities to develop skills across legal
administration, client service, office operations, and client support.
  • A collaborative and supportive team that genuinely values each team member’s
    contributions.
  • A workplace culture rooted in compassion, professionalism, accountability, and teamwork.
Based on GFL’s stated core values.
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of clients during some of the
most challenging periods they will experience.
  • The chance to be part of an innovative firm that believes exceptional client service extends
beyond legal advice through programs such as our unique WeCare initiative.
